Forums are held each election season to ensure voters hear directly from candidates for local offices. Help is needed to contact the candidates, write candidate questions, moderate the forum, advertise the event, and more. The League never supports or opposes any political party or candidate.
Specific activities involved in planning a candidate forum include:
Coordinate with candidates and partners (Village Preservation & Improvement Society, Citizens for a Better City, PTAs) to identify forum dates.
Develop questions with partner organizations.
Reserve space to hold the forum.
Recruit volunteers to assist with the event.
Set up and take down space before and after the event.
If you'd like to help out with candidate forums, please contact Voter Services.
